Bao Fang's installation do not have a fixed viewing center but are derived from the study of organ energy transformation. Her works are organized in groups to construct a synthetic system of human civilization. In those simulations similar to ancient medicine and mysticism, the birth, disappearance, and cycle of consciousness validate the rationality of human existence.
Today the world we live in is constantly changing and our existence is encapsulated in invisible pressures. Art needs another force to pull, to balance, to release. Under the multiple influences of psychoanalysis and Eastern philosophy, a comprehensive approach to art that eliminates collective will and aspires to occur in a natural state has become increasingly explicit. Both artists, Bao Fang and Han Qingzhen, undoubtedly tend to release their own experiences for satisfaction, and behind their self-digestion and self-realization, just like a "sustained-release capsule," they unleash their power in invisible places. The exhibition "Sustained-release capsule" attempts to present a "decelerated" expression and self-care, in the hope of reflecting on the current fast-paced production.
About the curator
Li Boyan, 1984 born in Tianjin. Graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2016. He was the curator of the public performance section of the 2017 Sanxingdui Theatre Festival, the public space performance section of the 2nd Shenzhen Contemporary Theatre Biennale in 2018, the experimental exhibition section of the 7th Jinan International Photography Biennale in 2018, and the thematic exhibition of the 2nd Wuhan Photo Art Fair in 2020. He was selected as the curator-in-residence of the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei in 2019. He has also been selected as a finalist for the PSA Young Curators Program in 2015 and the Hyundai Blue Prize in 2019.
