Stones on Saturn’s Halo

At 16:00, July 7, 2022 QI MU SPACE will present Stones on Saturns Halo, its first group exhibition in the new space in 751 Art Zone. The exhibition presents works by ten artists who have collaborated with the space since its founding: Gao Weigang, Liu Fujie, Na Buqi, Qi Xing, Ren Han, Song Yuanyuan, Wang Shuo, Zhang Yibei, Zheng Lu, Sun Xiaotian.

While documenting how these artists create, these works of art at this exhibition, break therelational boundarybetween all kinds of art mediums through  interdisciplinary mapping. The quotidian situations, artistically interpreted and transformed, together with the nature of act, emphasized through performance, painting, installation, visual and aural algorithm, expression of ideal and concept, together to encourage further reflection upon the correlative effects that individuals in thepost-truth era have on their milieu.

The crisis and events around us at present like the pandemic, the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrain war, Mars immigrant plans, and the rise of the virtual world, pose a real challenge to the artists understanding of progress. As the seemingly stable and eternal begin to decline from inside , the artists question whether the so-called new global order is misleading, and suspect that truth lies only in the desire-drivenchaos.

Stones on Saturns Halois about discourse, aggregation, narrative and interference. Due to the interference, the works are no longer mutually exclusive,  and neither are they deliberate or unconscious relation or correspondence. Rather they become part of a process in which the artists get to know the world through reflection. The artists reflect on the world and get involved in it, no matter what role they play, as a creator, a rebel, a skeptic or a detached observer. In the universe, the planets, the halo, the stones, as well as other nameless material, connect and co-exist under some gravitational force, but at the same time keep some distance and disassociate, even in a quite improper way, but there is no denial that it is these artists who create the universe.
