On June 16 Qi Mu Space is to present “ORION”,
GAO Weigang’s first solo at the space. The exhibition will last until August
19.
This exhibition will unveil a thrilling
long journey that begins at Qi Mu Space and ends at β, Orion’s primary
component. For this dramatic trip, the artist went out of his way to
collect ten musts for the journey, which
are to be presented at the exhibition. After
complicated data working, the artist shares with the audience stories and
scenes along the trip, therefore adding something light to the definitely dull
journey.
With the full-scale inflow of science
fiction film and TV programs from Europe and America, GAO experienced slight
changes in his interest as well. By means of these seemingly odd gods and
spirits that are as a matter of fact full of wisdom, we find some vague traces
of the unfocused and destandardized multiple worlds. The helpless darkness
takes away from us reasonable references. Probably only at the panic moment can
we really be aware of what we are in a world that we consider subjective.
GAO Weigang, born in
Heilongjiang Province in 1976, is a self-instructed artist based in Beijing.
